new rules about Christmas music

Gosh it's like you go to sleep on a warm summer night (the one warm summer night Seattle had this year), and then wake up and it looks like this...

BUT...
two days after I took these photos it snowed for the first time.
Which allowed me to create the rule that you're allowed to play Christmas music
as soon as one of the following happens:
1) Thanksgiving
2) The first snow

Snow beat out Thanksgiving this year.
And now the beckoning tunes of "A Very She & Him Christmas" can be heard throughout the house:

Those are EXACTLY the rules I came up with last year when it snowed quite a bit a few days before thanksgiving and I had a fire going in the fireplace and it was just inappropriate NOT to play Christmas music!

(Btw, it was good to meet you on Thursday!)

I'm not sure I approve of these rules. I think it depends upon the song. "Winter Wonderland", "Jingle Bells", and "Let it Snow" can obviously slide by, but I think songs that are a little more Christmas specific (Santa, Reindeer, Christmas Trees) should wait until after Thanksgiving. I'm torn about Christian-themed Christmas songs, because they should really be allowed year round.

It sounds to me like you're the type of person who wants to open a present on Christmas Eve, instead of waiting for the appropriate time. You probably rip and tear the wrapping, too, instead of preserving the paper for future use. Tsk.

Our first snow came in early October...unfortunately. That's why we only use the "Thanksgiving Rule". As soon as we finish the pies, it's officially the next holiday.
